Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested three people including a member of the Udunuwara Pradeshiya Sabha for assaulting the railway gate operator at the Penideniya Railway Station in Peradeniya.
According to Sri Lanka Police, an argument had taken place between the trio and the gate operator at around 03 AM on Tuesday (06), when they attempted to move across while the railway gate was closed.
Sri Lanka Police said that it was then the railway gate operators\ was assaulted by a local politician and two others.

25 SL fishermen arrested by ICG in March for heroin trafficking

Colombo (News 1st); 25 Sri Lankan fishermen were arrested by the Indian Coast Guard in March 2021 for heroin trafficking and are currently imprisoned in Indian jails.
Sri Lanka Police said on the 05th of March 2021 the Indian Coast Guard had carried out an operation in south-southwest off Minicoy in Indian territorial waters and arrested 06 Sri Lankan fishermen.
“One of the fishermen had thrown overboard a parcel containing 200 kg of heroin before the arrest,” said DIG Ajith Rohana quoting Indian counterparts.

Colombo (News 1st); 10 people were injured and admitted to the Mannar Hospital following a collision between a bus and a train close to the Thalaimannar Pier.
Sri Lanka Police said a majority of those inside the bus were school students and two of the injured are in critical condition.
