Fear Street 1978 struggles to stand on its own, rather than functioning primarily as a bridge between the trilogy’s first and final installments. The final 15 minutes of the film are inarguably its strongest, jumping forward back to 1994 as Deena and Josh exhume Sarah Fier’s hand at the tree where she was hanged, now the site of the Shadyside Mall, where Heather Watkins was murdered in the previous film. The Tomorrow War may crib from multiple great sci-fi movies, most notably Aliens, Terminator and Edge of Tomorrow, but if one is gonna steal might as well steal from the best. There’s a genuine feel of unstoppable menace to the alien threat here, and being sent to a future war is a horrific meat grinder people are unable to survive. While Tomorrow War may digress on family melodrama and a few supporting characters that are ultimately meaningless, where the movie works is alien baddies attacking hapless humans.

Amazon appears to be happy with the success of the Chris Pratt-led
The Tomorrow War, as a sequel is in development. Deadline reports that Amazon Studios, Skydance Media, and Paramount are in talks with director Chris McKay as well as Pratt for a follow-up film to the sci-fi actioner, as well as screenwriter Zach Dean and cast members Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, and J.K. Simmons.
The Tomorrow War was originally scheduled to hit theaters through Paramount, but was sold to Amazon due to the pandemic for a $200 million price tag. The film released last weekend and, according to Samba TV, was watched by 2.41 million US households during its first four days. The film also debuted at #1 across streaming platforms over the holiday weekend and was debuted in over 240 countries and territories via Prime.

The Tomorrow War has reportedly been a big success for Amazon, with plenty of views and some healthy feedback from users. It s perhaps not so shocking, then, to learn that the streaming service and production company Skydance are kicking off early discussions about a sequel to the sci-fi war movie, with star Chris Pratt and director Chris McKay considering returning.
They re not the only ones – according to
Deadline, Amazon wants to bring much of the creative team, including writer Zach Dean and stars including Betty Gilpin, Yvonne Strahovski and JK Simmons back for more alien menace action.
