(Photo submitted) OTTAWA The Myers family in Columbus Grove has two reasons to brag after this year’s Putnam County Fair. Madelynn, 13, showed her Old English Game Bantam Black Breasted Red for a Grand Champion banner and Alysann, 12, showed her Quail Belgian Bearded d’Anver bantam chicken for Reserve Champion. Both competed in the Junior Division. The chickens are the sisters’ chores and they also make sure the chickens are used to being handled so when it comes time to show them off, they’re used to the girls. The sisters also say their chickens are smart.
