1- Enjoy a winter bbq on the deck. So winter might not be the traditional time to throw a chop or steak on the outdoor grill, so why not be bold when you do and try a homemade barbecue sauce, maybe something using locally sourced honey? 2- Write a letter letting your family know you love them. It may seem a bit old-fashioned but there is something deeply personal about a handwritten letter, and we could all use some practice with our writing skills in this largely text-based world. 3- Make homemade butter with your kids. 4- Go through your clothes and donate the ones you don’t wear anymore. We all have them, the ones that time has shrunk, or that are simply out-of-fashion (Do you really need to keep those corduroy bell-bottoms?) So pass them on.

To Wilma Moore, the Highland neighborhood is the best place in the world to be.
That s why Spartanburg City Council s unanimous vote to approve the Highland Transformation Plan in late November meant so much to her.
She s lived in Highland since she was 11 and has worked at the United Way of the Piedmont for years advocating for her neighborhood. The transformation plan serves as a beacon of hope for the revitalization of Highland, which she s seen through all its ups and downs.
Finally, Moore s neighborhood is getting the attention and investment she thinks it deserves. I want everyone to know that Highland is the best place in the world to be. We have people that have lived there all their lives. Everybody cares about everyone else, Moore said.

The legislation was passed by the City Council and was sponsored by Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore).
According to Rose, these four Staten Islanders deserve to be remembered because of all they have done for the community.
“These four Staten Islanders distinguished themselves by giving back to the community throughout their lives,” said Council Member Debi Rose, who introduced the legislation for these co-namings. “Each has left a rich legacy in our borough, a legacy that we now honor formally with a street sign that will permanently share the contributions of these individuals for all to see.”
