A New Brighton man has been indicted on murder charges in the fatal shooting four months ago of a 34-year-old victim who was attending a memorial gathering in his community. Tyler Carmon, 26, of the 100 block of Prospect Avenue, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday in state Supreme Court, St. George. Prosecutors allege Carmon gunned down Cedric (Ced) Black on Sept. 15 while Black was at a memorial site on Jersey Street between Crescent Avenue and Carlyle Street.

Tyler Carmon, 25, a resident of the 500 block of Manor Road in Castleton Corners, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm, according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information. The victim of the shooting, Cedric Black, 34, was attending a memorial gathering on Jersey Street on Sept. 15 for a 21-year-old man in the neighborhood who suffered the same fate a day earlier.
