New Caloundra head coach Leigh de Jersey said it was great to take out the competition in what was a “pretty crazy” final.
“It was all about getting each other playing for each other and little bit of fun before the season starts,” he said.
“We well and truly know it doesn’t mean much towards the season itself because a lot of players didn’t play.
“But, it was a great confidence boost and was great for morale.” Sharks senior player Ben Marshall in 2018.
However, de Jersey said success was bittersweet after their hooker and captain Ben Marshall suffered a devastating season-ending injury.

He said he d been impressed with the level of talent donning Falcons colours. It s going good and we ve got a great bunch of young ladies there, Jeffs said. They ve got the skills but it s a matter of putting them all together and getting the best out of them. I m definitely impressed and they re from one end of the Coast to the other so it s a good representation of the football that they ve been able to play in the last few years. Â The squad has been training twice a week. The main things (we ve been focusing on) are defensive structure and just ensuring that our basic skills aren t too rusty after having a lay off last season (due to COVID-19), Jeffs said.

Subscriber only Nambour Crushers have kept their A-grade squad intact despite finances having been crippled by impacts of the pandemic. They have also managed to secure two former Queensland Cup players. Club president Mark Turner said none of the players who were due to play last year had requested a release of contract for this season. It means the likes of 2019 Sunshine Coast Rugby League player of the year Brenton Stonier, and stalwarts Dylan McGrath, David Oakes and Paul McKewin will all go again. Turner said the club had locked in two former Intrust Super Cup players in Matthew Gough and Brenton Adams.
