According to Hannaford’s website, “each time a shopper purchases the $2.50 Fight Hunger Bag at your selected Hannaford location your nonprofit will receive a $1 donation, unless otherwise directed by the Giving Tag.”  The program within WCTC that will receive donations is the Food4Friends/Cool2Be Warm program, which provides clothing, food and toiletries free of charge to Tech Center students in need.

The bag program, launched in April 2014, facilitates community support to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and \work. HYS was picked by store leadership at the Damariscotta Hannaford. HYS will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag is bought at this location in January, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the giving tag attached to the bag. HYS is a nonprofit based at St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St. Founded over 40 years ago, HYS has helped the food insecure who need a hand up, not a hand out.
