During the last several weeks, Lenawee County has hosted MI-DHHS Rapid Testing events at Adrian High School. This is a community-wide effort to help not only students returning from spring break, but an opportunity for anyone in our community to get a free rapid test.
While the event takes place at Adrian High School, a big thank you to Mark Haag, LISD superintendent; Steve Guerra, Addison superintendent; Mike McAran, Morenci superintendent; Nick Steinmetz, Madison superintendent; Carrie Dillon, LISD board member; and David Pray, LISD board member, for volunteering during these community-based events to help keep all of our schools safe and open for teaching and learning.

TECUMSEH, MI – A former member of the Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education has reapplied for the seat she won in November 2020 after it was determined she did not take the Oath of Office at a January organizational meeting.
Becky Brooks says she was assured she didn’t need to take the oath during a January 2021 meeting because she had been reelected to her seat rather than taking office for the first time.

As May approaches, so does Teacher Appreciation Week beginning May 3. I encourage all of you to thank a teacher, past or present, who has had a positive impact on you, or your children, grandchildren, or someone else important to you. I would like to personally thank all of the educators at the Lenawee Intermediate School District and across Lenawee County, especially in what has been a challenging year.
This also seems like an appropriate time to promote careers in education, working with and around children. Though there has recently been some debate as to whether or not there is a teacher shortage in Michigan, here in Lenawee County, there have been times where it has been a struggle to fill many vacant roles in our schools. TECUMSEH Another Tecumseh school board seat has been vacated, this time due to post-election procedures not being met.
Becky Brooks’ seat on the board has been vacated due to her not taking the oath of office and paperwork about taking the oath not being on file with the Lenawee County Clerk’s Office, Tecumseh Superintendent Rick Hilderley announced during Monday’s board meeting. Brooks was re-elected in November and was the board’s secretary.
This is the second seat on the Tecumseh school board that has been vacated in the past month. Kevin Johnson, who was the board’s president, was removed from the board after it was discovered his appointment was not made within the 30 days after a resignation last fall as required by state law. The Lenawee Intermediate School District board is accepting applications to fill that position. The LISD board is scheduled to do intervie
