COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â A Coldwater man was arraigned Saturday in Branch County District Court after he was charged in connection with an undercover drug investigation by the Southwest Enforcement Team.
59-year-old Paul Kevin Dirschell was charged with delivering methamphetamine. With Dirschellâs criminal record that goes back to 1979, prosecutors also filed an habitual offender sentencing enhancer if Dirschell is convicted.
According to court documents, Dirschell allegedly sold about one-point-nine grams of methamphetamine to a S.W.E.T. detective on January 7 after he was contacted by a detective about buying meth.
Bond was set at $50,000 and a not guilty plea was entered on Dirschellâs behalf. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for May 27 with a preliminary exam set for June 3.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â Due to the large amount of evidence and reports that are not available yet in connection with a case in which the defendant is facing 11 charges, Branch County District Court hearings for 42-year-old Daniel Gerard Silich of Sturgis have been delayed until June.
Among the charges Silich is facing is second degree murder in connection with a hit and run crash which led to the death of 13-year-old Landen Risner.
He was among three children who were struck April 5 while they were riding their bikes in the area of Ralston and Arney Roads near their Sherwood Township home.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â Branch County Prosecutors have charged a second person in connection with the alleged theft of catalytic converters in Matteson Township between November 1 and December 23 of last year.
57-year-old Richard Allen Caudill of Angola, Indiana was arraigned on Thursday in Branch County District Court on a felony charge of buying and selling stolen scrap metal and a misdemeanor count of violating the stateâs scrap metal regulatory act by not keeping proper records at his Bronson business on South Matteson Lake Road.
A personal recognizance bond of $5,000 was set and the defendant was allowed to continue living in Angola. A probable cause hearing was set for June 15 with a preliminary exam on June 22.
