By Jim Measel May 7, 2021 8:04 AM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Prosecutors have charged a second person in connection with the alleged theft of catalytic converters in Matteson Township between November 1 and December 23 of last year. 57-year-old Richard Allen Caudill of Angola, Indiana was arraigned on Thursday in Branch County District Court on a felony charge of buying and selling stolen scrap metal and a misdemeanor count of violating the state’s scrap metal regulatory act by not keeping proper records at his Bronson business on South Matteson Lake Road. A personal recognizance bond of $5,000 was set and the defendant was allowed to continue living in Angola. A probable cause hearing was set for June 15 with a preliminary exam on June 22.

By Jim Measel May 4, 2021 5:21 PM COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Three Rivers man was arraigned Tuesday in Branch County District Court on three larceny charges in connection with the alleged theft of catalytic converters in Matteson Township between November 1 and December 23 of last year. An habitual offender fourth offense notice has also been filed by prosecutors against 39-year-old Alexander Zuchnik whose criminal record goes back to 2014. According to court documents, he was previously convicted for uttering and publishing, forgery and being in possession of a controlled substance. Authorities say all three of the alleged thefts took place from two vehicles at the same location on North Matteson Lake Road.
