COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â A Fort Wayne woman was formally charged on Thursday in Branch County District Court with being in possession of ecstasy and carrying a concealed weapon during a traffic stop on I-69 in Ovid Township.
According to Branch County Court documents, 39-year-old Evelyn Louise Niemeyer was a front seat passenger in a 2007 Pontiac that was stopped by the Michigan State Police for speeding on Wednesday.
She admitted to the State Police trooper that she had a 9mm pistol under her seat and that she did not have a concealed weapons permit from any state.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â A Three Rivers man was arraigned Tuesday in Branch County District Court on three larceny charges in connection with the alleged theft of catalytic converters in Matteson Township between November 1 and December 23 of last year.
An habitual offender fourth offense notice has also been filed by prosecutors against 39-year-old Alexander Zuchnik whose criminal record goes back to 2014. According to court documents, he was previously convicted for uttering and publishing, forgery and being in possession of a controlled substance.
Authorities say all three of the alleged thefts took place from two vehicles at the same location on North Matteson Lake Road.

COLDWATER, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – 42-year-old Daniel Gerard Silich of Sturgis was formally charged with 11 counts including a charge of second degree murder during an arraignment on Wednesday in Branch County District Court in connection with a hit and run crash which injured three children while they were riding their bikes near their Sherwood Township home.
One of the injured youngsters, 13-year-old Landen Risner, died from his injuries 13 days after the crash at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Six-year-old Roman Risner suffered a femur fracture and had plates and screws inserted during surgery. Their 13-year-old sister suffered minor injuries.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â A Coldwater man was arraigned Monday in Branch County District Court on five counts for allegedly being in possession of sexually explicit materials involving children.
Branch County Prosecutors filed charges against 34-year-old Robert Sloan following a Michigan State Police investigation.
He has been charged with four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive materials as well as a charge of using a computer to commit a crime.
According to Branch County court documents, a State Police investigator obtained a search warrant for Sloanâs residence which allowed him to seize electronic devices. The report stated about 250 sexually explicit photographs involving young children were found on the computer, phone and hard drive.
