COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â After the COVID-19 pandemic forced a cancellation of many ceremonies in 2020, Branch County residents paused on Memorial Day to remember those who laid down their lives so that Americans can enjoy living in a free land.
A Memorial Day ceremony was held at the Four Corners Park in downtown Coldwater which was followed by a Veterans âHonor Rideâ in golf carts to the Coldwater American Legion Post 52.
The âGathering of Flags War Memorial Serviceâ was later held at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Judge David Coyle was the main speaker and he talked about the sacrifice American service members gave over the years for their country with many of them between the ages of 18 and 21.

Public defender Matt Glaser received a 30-day extension Thursday in the April 5 hit-and- run murder case against Daniel Gerard Silich.
“There are big sections of police reports coming in, Glaser said. I don’t have the medical examiner s report. We need an adjournment so I can give these to my client so we can make our decision on whether to have a preliminary exam.
Magistrate/Judge David Coyle granted the extra time for both, including the probable cause conference and exam.
Branch County Prosecutor Zack Stempien filed 13 charges in connection with the death of Landen Risner, 13, as well as injuries to Risner s brother and sister. A Chevrolet Equinox swerved and hit three of four children riding their bikes on Ralston Road. Landen died six days later.
