Hindu prayer to open Concord City Council session

The Concord City Council will open with Hindu prayers from Hindu statesman Rajan Zed at its meeting Monday, March 8. Zed will deliver the invocation from ancient Sanskrit scriptures remotely before city council. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English interpretation of the prayers. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.

The huge, struggling company that owns Pleasant View and Pleasant View Retirement homes in Concord is preparing to sell control of 51 of its facilities around the country, including three in New Hampshire.
Concord’s Pleasant View nursing home and retirement home, which date back to 1946 when they were started by the McKerley family, were sold to Pennsylvania-based Genesis Health Ventures in 1995. Someone at the facility hung up Thursday when asked about the company’s announcement, which didn’t list any properties by name.
