Firm that owns Pleasant View nursing and retirement homes makes huge restructuring; status of Concord sites unclear

The huge, struggling company that owns Pleasant View and Pleasant View Retirement homes in Concord is preparing to sell control of 51 of its facilities around the country, including three in New Hampshire.
Concord’s Pleasant View nursing home and retirement home, which date back to 1946 when they were started by the McKerley family, were sold to Pennsylvania-based Genesis Health Ventures in 1995. Someone at the facility hung up Thursday when asked about the company’s announcement, which didn’t list any properties by name.
KENNETT SQUARE â Genesis Healthcare Inc. has named Robert (âBobâ) H. Fish as CEO effective immediately, following the announcement that George V. Hager Jr. will retire as the companyâs CEO and director. Fish, who currently serves as the companyâs chairman of the board, will continue to serve in that role for Genesis.
Genesis, one of the countryâs largest post-acute care providers, includes locations in Berks, Chester, Montgomery and Delaware counties.
Fish has been a member of the Genesis board of directors since 2013 and chairman since 2017. He has extensive experience as a healthcare company executive, including significant experience in the long-term care industry, according to a press release.Â
