The Martha s Vineyard Times Edgartown selectmen back conversion to select board Edgartown selectmen showed support Monday night for placing an article on the warrant that would change board’s name to the Edgartown select board. - Rich Saltzberg On the recommendation of Babson College executive Jane Edmonds and business consultant Kate Putnam, members of the Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Forum, Edgartown selectmen voted 2-0 Monday afternoon to add an article to the 2021 warrant that would change the Edgartown board of selectmen to the Edgartown select board.  “I think it’s really important … especially at this point in our societal experience, to use inclusive language and to remove gender references where it’s possible to do that,” Putnam said. 

Storybook Walk at Sheriff s Meadow Sanctuary - The Martha s Vineyard Times

The Martha s Vineyard Times Storybook Walk at Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation and the Edgartown Public Library are partnering to launch a series of storybook walks for children at Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary, beginning on Saturday, March 13, at 9 am. For the first book, Elyce Bonnell, children’s librarian at the Edgartown library, has selected the story, “The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear,” by Don and Audrey Wood. “It’s a fun book for all ages!” Bonnell says in a press release. Take home craft bags related to the story are available in the children’s room take out window at the Edgartown library, which is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
