Benchmarks traded sideways with a negative bias in mid-morning trade. At 11:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, fell 32.52 or 0.07% at 46,928.01. The Nifty 50 index declined 17.8 points or 0.13% at 13,742.95.
In broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was down 0.17% while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 0.09%.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was almost even. On the BSE, 1351 shares rose and 1363 shares fell. A total of 139 shares were unchanged.
On Friday, Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,720.95 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs), were net sellers to the tune of Rs 2,424.61 crore, provisional data showed.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, is weak. On the BSE, 870 shares rose and 1235 shares fell. A total of 88 shares were unchanged.

Infosys on Friday (18 December 2020) announced that it has divested one-third of its holding in Boston-based Whoop Inc for about $10 million.
