Zenith appoints Sarah Heitkamp as head of strategy and planning

Sarah Heitkamp has been promoted at Publicis’ Zenith, from Sydney strategy director to head of planning and strategy.
Heitkamp has been with Zenith since 2010, having joined as a strategic media planner in its Düsseldorf office. She has since worked across multiple Zenith offices, including a two year stint as Zenith’s global strategy director in its London office from June 2018 to January 2020.

CHEP appoints Jonny Berger as managing partner

Clemenger Group’s CHE Proximity (CHEP) has announced Jonny Berger has been appointed as managing partner.
Berger joins from within the Clemenger Group, coming to CHEP from his position as general manager at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.

Berger has previously worked at M&C Saatchi Australia as group head and Droga5 as group business director. Berger has worked with clients such as Carlton United Breweries, Optus, Ebay, and Woolworths.

Berger joins CHEP’s executive team in Sydney, leading the Samsung account. The appointment is effective immediately.
Extreme Reach announces plan to acquire Adstream

US based complete asset management solution Extreme Reach has announced an agreement to acquire Adstream, a digital advertising distribution company.
The transaction requires approval from Australia’s Foreign Advisory Board. If approved, the deal is expected to go through in Q2 of 2021.

If the acquisition is approved, 400 Adstream employees will join Extreme Reach.

Three Adstream executives will join Extreme Reach’s leadership team: Daniel Mark, CEO at Adstream, will become chief strategy officer; Katie Nykanen, chief technology officer at Adstream, will become chief product officer; and Tim Emly, chief financial officer at Adstream, will become senior vice president finance. Mark, Nykanen, and Emly are all currently UK based.
Destination Gold Coast targets Kiwi visitors ahead of travel bubble

Destination Gold Coast has launched a campaign encouraging New Zealand travellers to come to the Gold Coast ahead of the travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand. The bubble is set to begin from 19 April 2021.
The 30 second spot features New Zealanders in the Gold Coast as they await to be reunited with friends and family across the Tasman Sea.
The Gold Coast’s $6 billion per year tourism industry has been hit hard by COVID restrictions. Figures comparing Gold Coast visitors over 12 months from 2020 to 2019 show a loss of 5.5 million visitors, down 39%, and $3.2 billion of visitor expenditure, down 54%.
Saatchi & Saatchi launches new Toyota Kluger campaign with parents ditching the kids for a drive

Toyota has launched a campaign by Publicis’ Saatchi & Saatchi to promote the new Toyota Kluger Hybrid, positioning it as a vehicle that the whole family, including parents, will enjoy.
The “Where Freedom Meets Family” spot sees the parents ditch their kids with their grandma to drive the car.
The integrated campaign, directed by Fiona McGee at Good Oil, will run on broadcast television, digital, point of sale sponsorships and CRM.
Last month, Toyota handed both its creative and media accounts to Publicis. Saatchi & Saatchi was selected to continue to lead Toyota’s brand and select portfolios.
