ROCHESTER, Minn.-In the afternoon of January sixth, Gamehaven Council Boy Scouts of America Troop 82 gathered in the basement of the Zumbro Lutheran Church.
Willard Clark Johnson of Rochester, MN departed this life on December 14, 2023, at the age of 98. He was born on May 11, 1925, to Jens Peter and Hazel (Kalskett) Johnson in Moorhead, IA. Willard grew up on a farm and attended Moorhead Public School. After high school he attended Dana College in Blair, NE where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Willard served time in the Navy (1945-46), stationed in Bremerton, WA, auditing the records of sailors. College years continued and Willard received his master’s degree from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. His first position as a music teacher was at Wakefield, NE Public Schools. While there he met the love of his life, Lorraine Marie Hagberg. They were married for 70 years.
