Channel 9 is following three other stories out of our breaking news center. That includes unrest in a Salt Lake City neighborhood. One person was shot last night and witnesses say it was a 16 yearold boy. Police say two officers were involved in the shooting. Witnesses add you can see right there lots of tension that many people became upset over that shooting. Some of them started throwing rocks and glass at the officers. Also breaking this morning a Police Officer shot and killed in virginia last night was only on her second day on the job. Officer ashley was killed yesterday while responding to a Domestic Violence call. Two other officers were also shot and taken to the hospital. But their conditions are unknown this morning. Over night we learned more than 100 patrol cars lined the roads outside of that hospital to stand vigil. The county attorney city says the suspect who has not been named will face a capitol murder charge among other counts. Over night we learned a accident. It

Reporter yes, right now those crews are treating interstate like here on 77 with a mixture of brine. That is a mixture of salt and water that prevents ice from bonding to the roads. Crews started treating the interstates a couple hours ago. Where they started loading up trucks with brine. States have to debris treat a lot of highways so as you can imagine its a big job. 10,000 gallons of brine will be used to treat the road. All in anticipation of the coming weather. D. O. T.

Today nc d. O. T. Crews will be deciding how to treat the roads for mondays Winter Weather. They say treating roads for freezing rain is different than treating for snow. After they make a decision today they will be tackling highways. More crews are on call if we get more than we expect. We have dozens of pieces of equipment just within Mecklenburg County alone. We also have potential for 90 contractors that we can bring on site. Nc d. O. T. Says that crews have already used 24 million worth of materials for storm preps. That is more than half of the states budget for the entire year. Occurred on february 14 in the 4500 block of torrey pines court. That is in the south division of the Charlotte Mecklenburg police department. Homicide detectives developed probable cause and made an arrest. The subject arrest side mrs. Feldmans son, irwin j. Feldman. The detectives have detectives have continued to work on this case since the day it occurred. And like i said, they developed probable cause to make this arrest today. I would love to get into a lot of specifics. But what i can say is numerous interviews and physical evidence led us to this point where we made this arrest today. Most importantly, i know during the time this incident occurred, there was great concern in the neighborhood. And some fear and trepidation, which i understand, i share those fears. But i can tell you, theres no reason for that community to be afraid of any sort of random outstanding suspect. We have made an arrest. Unfortunately, it was her son. Crews are searching for people possibly under debris in convert, louisiana. This is just after a tornado ripped through the campground yesterday leaving two people dead. Authorities say at least 30 were wounded. Seven under critical condition. Dogs with are brought in overnight to search the piles of rubble looking for anyone still missing. Its just major destruction. One individual i was speaking to when i first got here couldnt find his trail other, couldnt find his brother. This also did damage in pensacola, florida. Authorities say the storm left holes in roofs and flattened homes and garages. Well continue to gather more information and new video as the storm system rolls into charlotte. The governor put the Fire Departments rescue team on stand by in case North Carolina gets hit by the Severe Weather, and it looks like it will.
