Chief meteorologist bill martin has the forecast along highway 17 tonight. Azenith . Reporter well you can see the mud slide behind me. Caltrans is using the heavy equipment to stabilize the hillside. Chp is hoping to open one northbound lane tomorrow morning. Commuters heading from santa cruz to san jose. Theyre advised to take alternate routes just in case. Caltrans crews are working to remove rocks and mud covering the northbound lanes of highway 17 near lion hill road. Its the largest hillside this winter. Thats about 100 dump truckloads somebody decided to dump over the hill all at once. Caltrans plans to bring in a specialized excavator tomorrow to safely access the slide and remove debris from the top down. Oakland 1. 39 and san jose not as much in the south bay. As you can see right now on the radar we still have coverage up there. The minute focus is up in the north bay. You can see especially here we go for marin but up toward santa rosa, sonoma we still have Rain Coverage to talk about. Looks like moderate to borderline heavy and then still scattered rain for San Francisco, extending across at least approaching oakland and haywood. Quadrant. We watched a home slide down the hill a bit in san rafael. We are in the middle of a break before we brace for more rain tomorrow morning. Even the break, gentlemen, has been fairly wet. As soon as i got in the car and pulled away from the house, it started dumping. It can be a little consistent rain. A lot of that water is up in the hillsides, the mountain sides and pouring down into the creeks and rivers. Im concerned because i dont think this break is big enough. Right.
