Officers responded Friday to the credit union’s main branch at 350 Convention Way on a report of cash thefts at several ATMs in Redwood City and San Mateo.

The first call to CHP came about 12:30 a.m. Saturday: a report of a vehicle on fire with a passenger trapped inside on I-80 westbound at San Pablo Dam Road, officials said.
Officers found an SUV fully engulfed in flames. CHP said the male driver escaped the vehicle fire with minor injuries, but the passenger did not make it out, and died.
