Parts of the Bay Area experienced record-high temperatures in recent days, a sign of the warming trend that will likely continue through the end of the week before the region cools off to some rain.
Afternoon temperatures in San Francisco reached 81 degrees Wednesday, surpassing the previous record 80 degrees set in 2011. The high in Gilroy was 87 on Wednesday, one degree hotter than the previous record set in 2003. Dry conditions and warm temperatures continued Thursday, with some areas experiencing above-average highs.

Sonoma County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the “suspicious” death of a 30-year-old man that was initially reported as a suicide at Camp Meeker last month.
Deputies responded Feb. 12 to a reported suicide at a house on Market Street in Camp Meeker, where they found James Bauer dead inside his home suffering from at least one gunshot wound, authorities said in a news release. A gun was also found in the home.
A coroner detective examined the scene and determined that the death was suspicious, the sheriff’s office said. Further investigation revealed that the man s death was a homicide.
