Im Marcus Washington for you this morning. Mike, hope has a clear forecast for our roads this morning, but, first, we have to start with the weather. Meteorologist kari hall is tracking that for us. Our skies havent been clear in a long time. Today going to be any different . I dont think so. Were still looking at a lot of smoke coming in and those fires continue to burn and so until we get more containment and more of those fires put out, were still going to have unhealthy air quality. Thats going to be talk about ws orange coming up in a couple but, mike, hows it looking right now for the morning drive . Well, im watching for the orange, but i see some red, as well. The orange over here in the trivalley. Southbound 680 right where 84 merges with that and a crash should be making its way to the shoulder with no injuries
7 is giving us that shot in san jose. So when the sun comes up. Weve got you covered, yeah and masks masks masks covering you today because the bad air quality john what expect. Yeah i agree we need those mass today youve been wearing in many ways, but today were going to have significant ash falling from the sky even if you can smell the smoke. So the mask will be very helpful and yes as we make our way through the next hour or so well see eventually what you those skies eventually do take what we are looking at is going to be a darker a smoky day much like yesterday smoke is a little bit lower in the horizon than yesterday its gradually sunk been very slow in doing so though so for some parts of San Francisco. Youre not quite smelling it yet. As that marine layer was still president overnight. Even in areas with slightly better air quality you still need that mask because we do have ash if you had your car outside overnight youre seeing it having settled on your car and as you step o

Very foggy its a mix of both now even though it might not smell so bad for your area we are still looking at poor air quality as we see ash falling from the hazy layer above us. You dont want to be breathing that in so of course the Face Covering will be as helpful as possible as you are venturing outside now why is it so smoky when we had our fires a couple weeks ago and thats when they were really expanding and now theyve come down. Well we had strong winds from the north a couple days ago that resulted in rapid spread of fires on the northern end of the state and the smoke from those fires just drifting down our way since winds have calmed down now that haze that smoke a sitting with us and gradually sinking yesterday the hazy layer was above us so any sort of light that hit that he is the lair pass through it with just the red remaining today the grey sinks and now were looking at a whole different hue entirely as you see outside your window this morning, 50s and 60s for current te
Ive never seen it empty like this. Reporter dozens of structures have been destroyed by the fast moving and more. S hard to tell how clos it is. Its horrible. Reporter just down the street a team of volunteers from the equine evac making rescues for those who could not save their animals. Its hard because you want to pick what you can. Its been exhausting but happy to be out here and have the equipment to be able to remove some of the animals and get to them. How would you want to be treated if you had something happening like this . Youd hope your community would step up and take care of your animals. Kenny, we know youre near the road closure. What have you seen nearby . Reporter so juliette, the road closure is behind me. Weve seen a steady stream of cars heading south towards santa cruz. The fire that is burning to the north of us and the northeast. The only cars heading in this direction northbound are the First Responder vehicles. Chp officials telling us they may take off and th
