Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., PRO-13 director, said suspects Dionesio Tapayan, 54; and Reymundo Tapayan, 48, were arrested in an operation Sunday afternoon in Brgy. Bayugan 3, Rosario, Agusan del Sur. "The Tapayan brothers are considered number one and two most wanted persons in Ozamiz City," Caramat said. BUTUAN CITY - Cases have been filed against a dozen individuals arrested for violating the gun ban in Surigao del Norte on the eve of the May 9 polls, the Police Regional Office in Caraga Region (PRO-13) reported Wednesday. Cases for violations of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Commission on Election Resolution No. 10728 on Gun Ban were filed Tuesday against the suspects, according to PRO-13 director, Brig. Gen. Police Regional Office-Caraga (PRO-13) director, Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., said the number represents 61.2 percent of the 527 personnel in the region who are listed to cast their votes through absentee voting for the 2022 local and national elections. "PNP Caraga values every citizen's right to choose their suited candidate, and this is confirmed in the region-wide absentee voting among our policemen far away from their homes," Caramat said
BUTUAN CITY - The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Caraga (CIDG-13) has apprehended 40 most wanted persons in the region in a span of two months, from January to February this year. In a statement Monday afternoon, the Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) noted that CIDG-13 also conducted 290 operations that resulted in the arrest of 298 other wanted persons during the period. PRO-13 director, Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr., also lauded CIDG for its campaign against loose firearms, which resulted in the arrest of 30 suspects and the confiscation and surrender of 111 guns and an explosive. In a report Friday, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) said that Vice Governor Librado Navarro, 64, and his wife Maylene, 47, were arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 42 in Medina, Misamis Oriental. "They were arrested at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 in San Andres, Barangay Maharlika, Bislig City," the SDSPPO report said.
