LAHORE: Mandi Bahauddin District Police Officer Ali Raza has been transferred reportedly on ‘political ground’ and posted as assistant inspector general (discipline) at Central Police Office vice Syed Imran Karamat Bukhari who has been transferred and posted as Punjab Elite Force Headquarters SP against a vacancy.
An official, privy to the information, told Dawn that Raza was transferred on the pressure exerted by the PML-Q, an ally of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Punjab and Centre. He claimed there was an understanding between the two parties that the Punjab government would give preference to the ‘wish’ of PML-Q in posting of officers in police and district administration in its stronghold districts, particularly Gujrat and Mandi

Notices have been sent by the Islamabad High Court to the Senate chairman and secretary and the federal government over PPP leader Yousaf Raza Gillani s intra-court appeal against the Senate chairman election.
Gilani had requested the court to quash the presiding officer s decision to reject seven votes and had demanded the immediate suspension of the presiding officer s decision regarding the Senate election.
The intra-court appeal was filed by Gillani through his lawyer Farooq H Naik, Javed Iqbal Venus, and Barrister Umar Sheikh.
The PPP leader, who is also the current Opposition leader in Senate, had sought annulment of the single bench judgment in the intra-court appeal.

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tursday filed an intra-court appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the Senate chairman election.
Earlier, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah had declared Gilani’s plea, challenging Sadiq Sanjrani’s victory as the Senate chairman, non-maintainable.
The PPP leader sought annulment of the single bench judgment in the intra-court appeal, requesting that the decision of the presiding officer to reject seven votes should be quashed.
The Senate opposition leader also demanded immediate suspension of the presiding officer’s decision regarding the Senate election.
An intra-court appeal has been filed by Gilani through his lawyer Farooq H Naek, Javed Iqbal Venus, and Barrister Umar Sheikh. Speaking about the Senate chairman polls results, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had earlier said that his party believes in the supremacy of the Constitution and Parliament, but the p
