Jacob Bridgeman made the 100th round of his Clemson career special with a four-under-par 68 to lead Clemson to a 280 team round and a three-place improvement in the standings at the Watersound Invitational at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City. The Tigers improved from eighth-place to fifth and stand just two shots out of third and nine shots out of first entering Tuesday’s final round on the par 72 course that measures 7,202 yards. Georgia Tech has the team lead at 14-under-par 562, six shots better than Virginia Tech. Alabama is third at four-under-par 572, while fourth-ranked North Carolina is fourth at 573. Bridgeman Advances to Final 16 of U S Amateur

CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson All-American Jacob Bridgeman made a birdie on the 18th hole early Friday morning to defeat Oklahoma State All-American Bo Jin 1-up in the second round of the United States Amateur Golf Tournament at famed Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa. Bridgeman now advances to the final 16 to face North Carolina junior Austin Greaser later on Friday. Bridgeman is the 14th Clemson player to advance to the round of 16 at the U.S. Amateur, the first to do it since Doc Redman won the tournament in 2017. It was the second consecutive match that Bridgeman won the 18th hole to win 1-up. It is the third time he has done it this year, as he defeated Florida State’s John Pak, the number-one player in the nation, with a win on the 18th at the ACC Tournament Championship match. CLEMSON, S.C. Jacob Bridgeman defeated Jonathan Griz of Hilton Head, SC 1-up on Thursday morning to advance to the second round of the United States Amateur at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa. Bridgeman now faces Bo Jin of Oklahoma State at 1:50 p.m. Bridgeman, seeded eighth in the match play bracket, and Griz, seeded 57th, were tied after 13 holes when darkness suspended play on Wednesday evening. The two players returned to the course at 7:30 a.m. to play the final five holes. They tied holes 14-17, then Bridgeman won the par-four 18th with a par. Griz is a 17-year-old high school student who has committed to Alabama. He won the South Carolina Amateur in 2020 at the age of 16, the youngest golfer to win that tournament.
