Clemson Student-Athletes Recognized for UPIC Internship Participation

CLEMSON, S.C. – This semester, 23 Clemson student-athletes participated in the University Professional Internship and Co-op (UPIC) program, designed to provide experiences in the professional space that will assist students in their career paths both during and following their athletic career. Clemson Athletics recognized those individuals for their participation on April 14.  Of the 23 interns this spring, 17 of them were first-time UPIC interns, earning valuable education in the workforce. The six returnees were Chloe O’Brien (Rowing), Keco Morrison (Track and Field), Trishauna Hemmings (Track and Field), Maylin Lindsey (Rowing), Pepper Kolman (Rowing) and Eleonor Wright (Rowing). The Rowing program had nine participants in UPIC internships, most of any program, followed by Track and Field (six), and Volleyball (three). Seven Tigers Named to ACC All-Academic Team

CLEMSON, S.C.  The Indoor Track and Field All-ACC Academic Team was announced on Wednesday morning, and it featured seven Clemson student-athletes. Marie Forbes, Trishauna Hemmings and Harleigh White represent the women's program while Devon Brooks, Lafranz Campbell, Dashinelle Dyer and Cameron Rose were the four men named to the team. Brooks and Campbell each represented Clemson at Indoor Nationals, finishing 10th and ninth, respectively. Both Brooks and Lafranz are graduate students competing primarily in hurdle events. Brooks studies athletic leadership while Campbell studies women's leadership. Dashinelle Dyer and Cameron Rose round out the men's All-ACC Academic Team honorees. Rose finished third in the men's 200 meter dash at ACC Championships, and was a member of the ACC Champion 4x400 meter relay team. Several Clemson Event Groups Earn Rankings

CLEMSON, S.C.  The Clemson men's track and field team earned its second consecutive top-25 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA Rating Index. The Tigers are No. 23 in the nation, the fourth-highest of any ACC men's team. Clemson's men stand out particularly in the sprint events, boasting the 14th-ranked 100 meter dash group and the 15th-ranked 200 meter dash group. Clemson's three indoor All-America hurdlers finished in the top three in the 110-meter hurdles at the Tennessee Relays this past weekend. Devon Brooks won the event, followed closely by Giano Roberts and Lafranz Campbell.  

Tigers Show Promise at Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Clemson Track and Field program began its fourth outdoor meet of the season on Friday at the Tennessee Relays, and saw success in many of the individual events. At the midway point of the regular season, the Tigers are certainly showing steady progression and promise as several of the team’s biggest names are showing that they will be forces to reckon with come championship season.  HIGHLIGHTS The men’s 110 meter hurdles was dominated by Clemson, as Devon Brooks won the event with a 13.57. He was closely followed by Giano Roberts and Lafranz Campbell. The three Tigers finished first, second and third in the field of 14. Trishauna Hemmings took home the 100 meter hurdles crown, completing the race in 13.24 seconds. She was trailed by Antoinette Van der Merwe, whose 13.47 was third-best in the field of 22. Tiger Men Claim Third and Women Earn Ninth at ACC Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Clemson men’s track and field team finished third at ACC Indoor Championships this weekend. Two Tigers claimed individual conference titles, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Fabian Hewitt, Tarees Rhoden, Cameron Rose and Aman Thornton claimed the event championship. The women’s team finished the meet ninth overall in points.  Friday’s events were highlighted by Daniel Cope claiming the men’s weight throw title with a school-record 22.28 meter toss. That mark also serves as the Jamaican national record in the event.  On Saturday, Tarees Rhoden brought home two gold medals, first in the men’s 800 meter with a time of 1:48.62, followed by his participation in the relay team that earned first-team all-ACC honors. The Clemson men shined brightest in the 60 meter hurdles, in which Devon Brooks and Giano Roberts finished second and third, respectively.
