NEW ORLEANS, La. - 19 Florida State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Wednesday afternoon. 10 women and nine men were named to the team. Four athletes accomplished a 4.00 GPA for the spring semester. I'm very proud of all of our athletes on this list. We have had great academic success over the years in our program, and this year was no different, Head Coach Bob Braman said. On the women's side, three athletes recorded 4.0 GPA's. CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were each named to the list. Stauber is getting her masters in sport management while Skyring is pursuing her degree in exercise physiology. Alyson Churchill also had a 4.0 during the spring as she pursues her degrees in psychology and international affairs. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Florida State track and field team punched two more tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday afternoon at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. Our ladies had a really good day today. Obviously, the highlight was our two javelin throwers punching their ticket, but our sprinters had a fantastic day along with solid performances from Ruby [Stauber] and Maudie [Skyring]. Kelechi Nwanaga and Sara Zabarino will return to Eugene in the javelin after they each posted a top five finish in the event. Nwanaga posted a solid mark on her first of three throws with a mark of 54.72m to finish second. That mark was Nwanga’s best mark since Mar. 24 at the FSU Relays where she threw a personal best 55.06m. Zabarino posted a solid mark of 52.16m to finish fifth in the event. Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State track and field teams saw 12 personal best performances of Friday at FSU Relays at the Mike Long Track. Kelechi Nwanga and Edidiong Odiong contributed their career bests that were among the all-time top 10 performances in FSU history. Nwanaga led the Noles to a one-two finish in the women’s javelin in dominating fashion, measuring at 55.06m, edging her previous best of 54.93. She still holds the second-best performance in FSU history but inched closer to the school record (55.59m) that was set back in 2018 by Lauri Paredes. Odiong crossed the line first in the women’s 100m with a career best time of 11.28, which now ties for seventh in FSU history. Her previous best was 11.37, set last year and just shy of the FSU all-time top 10. We had a really good day today, Head Coach Bob Braman said. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kelechi Nwanaga and Sara Zabarino earned spots at the 2021 NCAA Track and Field Championships and six other Noles advanced to the next round to highlight day two at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds at The University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium.
“Really great day for the Ladies!” said head coach Bob Braman. “Well positioned to put a bunch of Nationals scorers on the plane. Fantastic Job by the lady speedsters in the 100-meter and 200-meter. Easy qualifier for Maudie, smooth and in control. The Javelin ladies were clutch again, looking for some fireworks in Eugene for these two.”
On their first javelin throw of the day, Nwanaga and Zabarino punched their tickets to the National meet. Nwanaga qualified with the mark of 53.33m and Zabarino with 52.35m.
On the track, Maudie Skyring was the first Seminole of the day to advance to the next round. As an automatic qualifier in the 1,500 meters out of heat four, she clocked in a time of 4:19.65.
Florida plays host to Tom Jones Memorial and senior day
In the second consecutive meet in Gainesville, three seniors were honored Friday.

Florida hosted its second meet in as many weeks, with the Tom Jones Memorial beginning on Friday night.
All of the eyes at Percy Beard Track locked onto the pregame proceedings, which honored Florida’s three seniors in theirfinal home meet.
Abby Harelson was joined by national champions Raymond Ekevwo and Thomas Mardal at the finish where coach Mike Holloway presented the trio with framed track pennies and a bouquet of flowers.
