Cunningham Named National Indoor Track Scholar-Athlete of the Year; 19 Noles Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - 19 Florida State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Wednesday afternoon. 10 women and nine men were named to the team. Four athletes accomplished a 4.00 GPA for the spring semester. I'm very proud of all of our athletes on this list. We have had great academic success over the years in our program, and this year was no different, Head Coach Bob Braman said. On the women's side, three athletes recorded 4.0 GPA's. CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were each named to the list. Stauber is getting her masters in sport management while Skyring is pursuing her degree in exercise physiology. Alyson Churchill also had a 4.0 during the spring as she pursues her degrees in psychology and international affairs. Six Noles Post Top 10 Performances at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The FSU track and field team had a productive day one at the Virginia Challenge, as six distance runners posted FSU all-time top ten performances Saturday night in Charlottesville, Va. I'm really pleased with our performances today, Head Coach Bob Braman said. We always want to lock in a time for regionals, and we did that today along with several FSU top ten performances. Matthew Owens was the first of six Noles to post a top ten performance Saturday night. Owens clocked a personal best time of 8:51.40 in the 3000m steeplechase. Owen moved to No. 5 on the FSU all-time list just two weeks after his previous personal best at the Florida Relays. Amanda Beach is quietly having a very productive season for the Noles. After cracking the top ten list in the 10,000m run on Mar. 25 at the Raleigh Relays, Beach posted another top ten time, this time in the 5000m run. Three Noles Earn All-America Honors at NCAA XC Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State men's and women's cross country teams each posted top 20 finishes on a perfect Saturday morning at the NCAA Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. Adriaan Wildschutt (6th), Ahmed Muhumad (20th) and Lauren Ryan (26th) each earned All-America honors. The women got off to a great start in the 6k and were sitting third at the the 2000m mark. Ryan continued her strong season and finished with a career best time of 19:50.1 to finish 26th. Maudie Skyring and Rebecca Clark ran together and finished with near identical times of 20:35.1 and 20:35.6, respectively. Amanda Beach (20:48.6) and Erin Phelps (20:57.4) rounded out the scoring for the Seminoles. In the men's race, Wildschutt continued his strong season and made his second consecutive top 10 finish at the NCAA Championships after a second-place finish at last year's race. March 5, 2021 - by Ian Bolger Noles Paced By Best Average, Finish Third TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior Adriaan Wildschutt brought home his first career victory as a Seminole, as the Florida State men’s cross country team finished third in a very tight, top-heavy field at the FSU XC Last Chance meet. On a picturesque Friday morning at the Apalachee Regional Park, the Seminoles had two runners in the top five and four in the top 15, completing the race with a total of 49 points ahead of Temple (117) and South Florida (153). RV Syracuse (31) took home the team title ahead of No. 17 Michigan (42). “If today was a regional meet, we would be through to nationals after that performance,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “We ran really well.
