NEW ORLEANS, La. - 19 Florida State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Wednesday afternoon. 10 women and nine men were named to the team. Four athletes accomplished a 4.00 GPA for the spring semester. I'm very proud of all of our athletes on this list. We have had great academic success over the years in our program, and this year was no different, Head Coach Bob Braman said. On the women's side, three athletes recorded 4.0 GPA's. CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were each named to the list. Stauber is getting her masters in sport management while Skyring is pursuing her degree in exercise physiology. Alyson Churchill also had a 4.0 during the spring as she pursues her degrees in psychology and international affairs. EUGENE, Ore. - The 4x100m relay began the night off with a bang with a record-breaking performance. Edidiong Odiong, Savy'on Toombs, Ka'Tia Seymour and Ashley Seymour combined to break the ACC record and the 29-year-old school record with a time of 42.78. The Noles had the fifth-fastest time of the three heats and finished second in their heat to automatically qualify for the finals. The finals will take place on Saturday at 5:32 p.m. on ESPN.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Amani Heaven, Edidiong Odiong and the women's 4x100m relay each punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships on the final day of competition of the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. After missing a ticket to the NCAA Championships by just 0.16m in the shot put on Wednesday, Heaven bounced back in the discus with a mark of 52.78m. Heaven was in the second of three flights and held on for a ninth-place finish en route to her first ever NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance. The women's 4x100m relay of Odiong, Savy'on Toombs, Ka'Tia Seymour and Ashley Seymour continue to scorch the track with a time of 43.46, the sixth-best time of the day. Odiong continued her dominant season in the 100m and 200m dashes. Odiong advanced to Eugene in both events with times of 11.25 and 22.72, respectively. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Florida State track and field team punched two more tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday afternoon at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. Our ladies had a really good day today. Obviously, the highlight was our two javelin throwers punching their ticket, but our sprinters had a fantastic day along with solid performances from Ruby [Stauber] and Maudie [Skyring]. Kelechi Nwanaga and Sara Zabarino will return to Eugene in the javelin after they each posted a top five finish in the event. Nwanaga posted a solid mark on her first of three throws with a mark of 54.72m to finish second. That mark was Nwanga’s best mark since Mar. 24 at the FSU Relays where she threw a personal best 55.06m. Zabarino posted a solid mark of 52.16m to finish fifth in the event. DURHAM, N.C. - The Florida State men's track and field team put together one of the most dominant performances in ACC history in route to their second-straight ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The Noles scored 149 points, the most since the league expanded to 15 teams, and won by 56 points, the largest margin of victory since league expansion. The women's team finished third with 99 points. Jeremiah Davis (men's field) and Edidiong Odiong (women's track) were each named Most Valuable Performers which is given the athlete who scored the most points throughout the championship.
