Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in collision on Route 28 in West Bridgewater
A driver was critically injured in a head-on collision on Route 28 in West Bridgewater early Thursday afternoon, officials said. Police and firefighters responded to the crash in the area of 710 N. Main St. about 12:25 p.m. Crews were met with a two-car motor vehicle crash, Fire Chief Lincoln Thibeault said. One patient was trapped in the vehicle with life-threatening injuries. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life hydraulic extrication tool to remove the trapped driver from the vehicle, he said.

BROCKTON Sean Merrill was known as a member of the recovery community who used his own experience with drug addiction and faith to help others.
His family said his proudest job was working for Adult & Teen Challenge Massachusetts in Brockton, a Christian-based recovery program that he graduated from and joined to help others. I m taking this opportunity God gave me to be a better big brother and to help other people recover from addiction, Merrill told The Enterprise in 2016.
Merrill lost his more than decade long battle with addiction on June 25 at the age of 42. He was a great son and great man who just had so many hurts, said his mother, Cheryl Juaire.
BROCKTON The city will partner with Bridgewater State University and a Boston hospital to address opioid use and reduce overdose deaths by using a $1.3 million federal grant.
Mayor Robert Sullivan called the grant and collaboration game-changing. All the partners will have a shared vision of preventing overdoses, he said. This is going to save lives in Brockton and the surrounding community, Sullivan said.
The grant, overseen by the university, is part of the HEALing Communities Study through the National Institutes of Health. It will study ways to implement evidence-based approaches to treat people with opioid use disorder and find best practices that can be adopted in other communities.
