BROCKTON The city will partner with Bridgewater State University and a Boston hospital to address opioid use and reduce overdose deaths by using a $1.3 million federal grant.
Mayor Robert Sullivan called the grant and collaboration game-changing. All the partners will have a shared vision of preventing overdoses, he said. This is going to save lives in Brockton and the surrounding community, Sullivan said.
The grant, overseen by the university, is part of the HEALing Communities Study through the National Institutes of Health. It will study ways to implement evidence-based approaches to treat people with opioid use disorder and find best practices that can be adopted in other communities.
