I do think that they reflect very creative and good interpretation to have the project really come out better. And since the driveway as you pointed out is a really nonhistoric element, i am really delighted that you took issue with that. And my only concern was that the staff position was that they thought that they were following the secretary of interior standards, in keeping it as narrow and having these harsh retaining walls. And i know that it is good intent, but i think that the discussion that you brought to it, is really how do we accomplish the goals, and not get incredibly narrow, and fixated on what might be a less than desirable out come. Long time. In about 2007 the parcel was programmed for affordable ownership housing but unfortunately because of the economic downturn and the mortgage melt down it was reenvisioned and fortunately then into affordable rental housing. That was coupled with the incredible demand for renters in the city of San Francisco and allowed the project to move forward. The site is very small. You wouldnt quite know it considering there are 50 affordable units on this site but its over a quarter of a acre,. 27 acres and shaped like a t and wide top and skinny handle and from a design point of view its challenging and from a staging construction view difficult.
