SIOUX CITY, IA. (Jimmiepride.com) – The University of Jamestown had the Pitcher of the Year in the Great Plains Athletic Conference’s post-season awards voting.
The Jimmies had two selections on the GPAC first team, and two on the GPAC second team.
Kat Miska (JR/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) was named Pitcher of the Year after posting a won-loss record of 17-3 and an earned run average of 1.24. She had five shutouts and struck out 223 batters in 130 innings pitched, holding opponents to a .175 batting average.
Morgan Geiszler (JR/Horace, N.D.) joined Miska on the first team. Geiszler led UJ with a .442 batting average, nine home runs, and 40 runs batted in. She also was tops on the team in runs scored (52), hits (65), doubles (23), triples (2), walks (20), slugging percentage (.810), and on base percentage (.512), and her 13 stolen bases were second on the team.

FREMONT, Neb. (jimmiepride.com)– The Midland University Warriors defeated the University of Jamestown softball team 7-5 and 1-0 Thursday afternoon to win the Midland bracket of the GPAC postseason tournament.
Jamestown, which won its two opening games on Wednesday, finishes with a record of 34-14.
The Warriors took an early 1-0 lead on a double by Kaitlin Anders, but the Jimmies tied the game on Kassi Ward (JR/Olympia, Wash.)’s third-inning double.
Roni Foote hit a two-run home run off Kat Miska (JR/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) in the bottom of the fourth to put Midland ahead 3-1, then four straight hits off Miska in the bottom of the fifth led to three runs and a 6-1 lead. The Warriors added another run later in the inning off reliever Lucy Sinkkonen (FR/Cloquet, Minn.) to take 7-1 lead into the sixth.

HASTINGS, NE. (jimmiepride.com) – The University of Jamestown softball team broke out of its recent offensive slump Saturday, scoring 31 runs on 38 hits in a sweep of Hastings College.
Jamestown won game one 11-6 then took game two by a final of 20-4 in five innings. UJ, now 29-11 overall and 12-6 in the GPAC, return home to host Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University on Tuesday.
The Jimmies held a 2-0 lead going into the top of the fifth in the opener, then erupted for nine runs in the inning. Kassi Ward (JR/Olympia, Wash.) hit a two-run home run to deep left field, then Sydney Prussia (JR/Detroit Lakes, Minn.) homered to center. Following a Santina Zito (SO/Boise, Idaho) single, Katie Merchant (SO/South Haven, Minn.) smashed a two-run homer to left to make it 7-0.
