She also also is of course a bay area native. She grew up in oakland and started her political career after graduating from the u c Hastings Law School back in 1989. In 1990 she was named Deputy District Attorney in Alameda County. Then in 2003 harris was elected San Francisco District Attorney where she served 2 terms. She was an elected as California Attorney general in 2010. Harris began a second term in that post when she announced she was running for us senate where she was elected in 2016. Then in 2019 senator harris launched her president ial bid. And now one year later, she is joe bidens running mate.
