The Supreme Court on Friday indicated that it would consider if Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested in the Delhi excise policy case, could be given interim bail in view of the ongoing elections.
The Supreme Court observed that denying child care leaves to mothers would violate the Constitutional duty to ensure equal protection of women in the workforce.
A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan stated that the existing practice, where panel lawyers are promptly phased out after a regime change, was leading to unnecessary adjournments.
The Court was hearing a petition by AAP Councillor Kuldeep Kumar who alleged fraud in the decision by RO Anil Masih to declare BJP Manoj Sonkar (now resigned) as the Chandigarh Mayor on January 30.
