A 67.84 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the second phase of Lok Sabha polls on Thursday in 95 seats spread in 11 states and a Union Territory, the Election Commission said.

Counting on smoothly, but website slow due to server overload: EC

Poll panel officials were responding to queries on slow updates of results. Deputy Election Commissioner Sudip Jain said there was excessive load on the servers but the counting was on. EC Secretary General Umesh Sinha said the counting was going on smoothly , and that the load on servers cannot affect the counting of votes on the ground anyway. The counting is on and results are being declared, while website is getting updated later, Jain explained. Jain also said EVMS have once again proved that it remains tamper-proof . He said barring a few incidents which were a result of lapses on part of the officials, no other major issue surfaced with regard to the electronic voting machines.
