Brockton COVID vaccines: Bridgewater State, Shaw s Center are clinics

Brockton s Shaw Center COVID-19 vaccine clinic is now open to surrounding towns and Bridgewater State University will open as a regional vaccine site next week.  The change comes after Gov. Charlie Baker announced this week that four of the state s seven mass vaccine sites would close by the end of June and doses would go to regional collaboratives, local clinics and disproportionately affected communities. “Our local communities deserve safe, convenient COVID-19 vaccine access and the new BSU site will be a welcome addition to the existing locations in our region,” Sen. Marc Pacheco, a Taunton Democrat whose district includes Bridgewater, said in a statement.

Brockton: Teachers get vaccinated at Shaw s Center clinic

She s now a step closer to that big moment after receiving her COVID-19 vaccination Friday morning. The Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, Brockton Public Schools and Mayor Robert Sullivan kicked off a three-day COVID-19 vaccine clinic for BPS staff members on Friday. The first 313 of nearly 1,000 shots were administered to Brockton Public Schools staff Friday. Additional vaccinations will be administered on Monday and Tuesday. Entering five at a time, a mix of Brockton Public Schools staff along with the general public entered the Shaw s Center, socially distanced, as they waited for their names to be called to receive the vaccine. Starting Friday, residents eligible to get vaccinated have to preregister using the new preregistration system announced by Gov. Charlie Baker earlier this week.

Brockton Shaw s Center: National Guard helps with COVID vaccine clinic

I couldn t wait to get it, said 60-year-old Kevin Cincotta, a Brockton resident.  Staying home and watching TV all day has been boring, he said, and he looks forward to being able to go to sports games again, including seeing the Boston Red Sox play.  The clinic is a collaboration between the Brockton Neighborhood Health Center and the city. Staff from the center registered patients and helped them with paperwork while 10 members of the Massachusetts National Guard gave the shots.  The center received 3,000 doses from the state for the week and its goal is to work up to administering between 750 and 850 a day for eligible health center patients and Brockton residents.
