Clemson, SC Sophomore Kian Rose had his best round of the spring in firing a two-under-par 70 on a day when the average score was 75.2 to lead Clemson in the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Golf Club in Eatonton, Ga. The 16-teams in the field will play the second round on Monday with the third and final round on Tuesday.Clemson had a team score of seven-over-par 295. Alabama and Georgia are tied for first at five-under-par 283, while number-one ranked Vanderbilt is in third place at 286. Virginia is fourth at 287 and Georgia Tech is fifth at 292. Arkansas is sixth at 294, just one shot ahead of the Tigers.Rose, Clemson’s top player in the fall, has been limited by a wrist injury in the spring, but he played well one Sunday with five birdies on is way to his 70. CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson will be one of 11 teams in the national field at the Blessings Collegiate that will be held October 3-5 at The Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas. The tournament will be televised by the Golf Channel with broadcasts from 3:30 p.m..m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. It will be the first time Clemson has played in a regular season tournament televised by the Golf Channel.Clemson will be joined in the field by host school and 14th ranked Arkansas, 17th ranked Texas A&M, 23rd ranked Mississippi, California, Kansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Central Florida, UCLA and UNLV.The unique tournament also will have 11 women’s teams competing in a separate tournament at the same course. Clemson’s women’s team is in that field as well.The Tournament will held on the 7,700 -yard Blessings Course, the second longest course Clemson has played in its history. Sophomore Kian Rose shot a career best five-under-par 65 on Friday to lead Clemson to an even-par team score of 280 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.Clemson stands in a tie for 14th place out of 18 teams after the first round on the par 70 course that measures 7,118 yards. The field includes six teams from the ACC, six teams from the Pac 12 and two teams from the SEC. The list of teams in the field include seven top 25 teams, including fourth-ranked Georgia Tech and fifth-ranked Arizona State.Rose had nine-hole scores of 33-32 with six birdies and just one bogey. He stands in a tie for seventh place after 18 holes. His previous career best round was a 67 in the third round of this same tournament on the same course last year.Jonathan Nielsen was Clemson’s second best golfer on Friday with an even-par 70.
