The field included six of the top 20 teams in the nation, including third ranked Vanderbilt who won the three-day 54-hole tournament with an 835 team score.Clemson was in second place after the first two rounds and stood in second place at 16 under-par just three shots behind Vanderbilt with 13 holes left. But the Tigers struggled on the back nine on Wednesday. He finished seventh overall, his third top 10 of the season. After winning its first tournament of the year at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, SC last week, the Clemson men’s golf team returns to action Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 19-21, at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City, Fla. The Watersound includes some of the most traditional golf programs in the nation. The field includes Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and host school Florida State.The tournament will be played on the par 72 Shark’s Tooth Golf Club Black course that was designed by Greg Norman and measures 7,246 yards.Clemson will feature a lineup that includes Andrew Swanson and Thomas Higgins. Clemson, SC Andrew Swanson shot a final round 72 to lead Clemson on Sunday at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn. The Tigers finished in 13th place in the 14-team national field with a score of 868 (+28) on the par 70 course. It was Clemson’s first appearance in the tournament and the season opener for Jordan Byrd’s team.Swanson finished in a tie for 23rd place individually with a 212 score over the 54 holes with rounds of 69-71-72. He led the Tigers in par three scoring (3.17), par four scoring (4.11) and par five scoring (4.33) for the 54 holes. CLEMSON, S.C. – Andrew Swanson fired an opening round 69 to lead Clemson in its season opening round at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Country Club in Loudon, Tennessee. Clemson stands in eighth place with a 289 total after the first round in the 14-team tournament that includes schools from around the nation.Host school Tennessee holds the first round lead with a score of seven under par 273 on the par 70 course that measures 7,280 yards. Mississippi State is second at 274, while East Tennessee State is third at five-under-par 275.Clemson got off to a rough start as a team and was eight over par at the turn.
