of where this stands today? i like the scope and breadth of what jack smith is doing. there were reports from another network saying look new mexico, pennsylvania, those officials are under scrutiny now. i like it because it s justice. no one should skate or walk away that had anything to do with trying to it overturn this election. submitting fake lectors. no one gets off the hook. this sets a precedent for free and fair elections. with regard to the focus on intent, look, i ll defer to glenn on the prosecutive importance of this, no question, it could be explosive if they have somebody saying, i was in the room when he said i lost the election. by the way, i ll remind folks, general milley, who testified to the january 6th committee, testified to that effect, that he was in the room, secretary pompeo and one other person,
might be so difficult to overcome or is the president confident? no, no. because at the end of the day, all of these indictments the american people need to remember they are a one sided evidentiary hearing in a grand jury that is put on by far left democrats. jack smith is effectively what you would call a democrat left wing operative for lack of better word. all he does is hate trump, hate the right wing. you put this guy this charge. he gives a group of people in a silo his information. his evidence then he gets an indictment. that s really the first step. i want the american people to understand this legally. this is no different than somebody saying, you know, alina habba you murdered somebody yesterday because i brought in hillary clinton and she said you did it. oh, yeah, no kidding? now we get the opportunity to bring our evidence. we get the opportunity to see it through. and if we have an impartial
thought once night fell they were going to be fighting people. that is what this was sort of concentrating on. a lot of the testimony that we saw, despite all this really sort of awful talk that we saw from the proud boys, a lot of the testimony indicated that this was more a spur of the moment sort of scenario at peace circle on january 6th than it was, you know, a predetermined plot. there was a message before from somebody saying, you know, about storming the capitol and that went to enrique tarrio, and tar owe sent a message back and said i just heard this essentially, you want to storm the capitol. that s something that prosecutors did have, but you know, this is a little bit of a developing situation here that we re going to find out very soon how the jurors ultimately came down. barbara mcquade, i d like to get your thoughts as we await this verdict, just how significant will this moment be in the bigger picture when it comes to justice for what happened on the january 6th?
are curious, can i have long-term confidence in the system. what are you looking? it will be okay. a little turmoil. the system is strong. if you re somebody saying can i trust this, where do you look? two things. you look to the fed and treasury on sunday night that came out and said we re starting a new facility, like we did in the pandemic, to help the economy and help american households in case there s more instability in the banking sector. we re going to backstop dep deposits, even if they are over that $250,000 level. which is what scared people who are at small and medium banks. and then the other thing is where we go from here in terms of the economy that will help ensure that people have confidence. obviously, a story we ll be with for weeks and months. appreciate you re coming in.
piled up against doug bradford amounted to it would be nice if we had a piece of physical evidence. somebody saying, i saw him leaving so-and-so, but we never had those. it s completely circumstantial. lewin was eager to get the trial, but the defense not so much. robert shapiro thought the evidence, in sufficient, to charge don t bradford. so you paper the court with motions, seeking to have the case dismissed, given his age in the lack of new physical evidence. though his request denied, they took time. lots of time. a year went by, then two, then five. doug bradford remained free on bail, as the case crept slowly toward trial. more than 2000 miles north, across the border, donald waited patiently in canada, bracing for a child of over three decades this coldest of cold cases. it wasn t cold. it was never cold to me. no. no.
