With san quinton, as the states covid19 hot spot right now. The governor is ordering the release of as many as 8,000 prisoners system wide. More than 1500 inmates and employees have tested positive for the virus at san quinton, seven have died. The prison posted these pictures showing how inmates are being socially distanced in a repurposed furniture facility. We are live with the story. Lets remember that the outbreak did not hit san quinton until late may. The spread of the virus has resulted in over 200 staff testing positive to covid19 and thousands of inmates. But the department of corrections estimates that 8,000 inmates currently could be eligible for release by the end of august because of new measures. Developing news. The confirmed cases of coronavirus are exploding in san quinton prison. On june 14th there were 48 cases, by this past friday, the number was up to 499. And right now, there are 523 active cases among inmates. At least 73 employees at the prison have tested positive. Abc News Reporter j. R.
