I am pleased that the governor has acted. But, i also think that unfortunately, its too little and for those who have already lost their lives, its certainly too late. We have seven individuals who already died and we have over 1600 who have been infected in the san quinton prison facility. We cannot be ruling out a process between now and the end of august. Reporter so far, in san quinton, more than 500 inmates have been released. Now, lets keep in mind that all individuals will be tested for covid19 within seven days of release here in san quinton. I spoke to the wife of one of the inmates last week and she was mentioning to us how its pretty much impossible to be able to stay away from those infected in the prison. So they are highly concerned for their loved oneses who are inside the facility. In marin county, ab c7 news. This has caused backlogs for our lab partners and delaying their processing of a patients samples. For the first two weeks, teachers will have zoom sessions with their students and parents to inform them of the semiis st semesters expectations. Teachers will as sess the students and work on home work. On week three, they will decide where the students stand academically and from there they will be put in groups which the district has determined is the most effective way to teach students during the pandemic. Here is what oakland superintendent said in early july in anticipation of the plan. We have to start that process of actually having a specific plan at the elementary, middle level and High School Level for inperson learning. Thats an expectation of all districts. Small Group Instruction will begin on week four. Again the recommendation is to do it online. He has several siblings in oakland Public Schools and he is concerned about the lack of adequate technology. Lukike four or five kids in school. There will be a lot of technical difficulties. The teaching will be hybrid as an approach after the four weeks what it will look like is yet to be determined if it happens at all. East Bay School Districts are rushing to get their reopening plans in place for the expected start of classes in the next few weeks. Where 8300 students are set to return to 3 schools on august 10th. Our goal was to reopen schools with in Person Instruction to the extent allowable by our local county health services. Students will split in to two groups, one group, attending monday, wednesday and friday, the other tuesday, and thursday, one week, and the next week, they switch. Social distancing and masks will be required. Some students will be allowed to work online, and parents have mixed feelings about the plan. Some are wanting us to reopen 100 and have the kids come back every single day. And others, dont believe we should be opening up. Other east bay districts are releasing their plans this week. The Antioch School board has approved reopening september 1st. All classes will be online, and that could change if things improve. The Contra Costa County has been holding a townhall, administrators in both are keeping a close eye on liberty as are other local districts. They may be using a hybrid, Distance Learning in person program. Right now, we are standing alone. We will see what happens. And theres one more bit of pain the local districts have to collectively endure. Make all the changes with budgets that are also being ravaged by the covid19 pandemic. I am incredibly proud of my almamater, they have issued the, to me, sincere apology, not only for the abuse that we suffered as students but for the abuses that we suffered the previous three years under the prior leadership. The letter said investigators have a quote, good faith belief that six former Staff Members engaged in inappropriate behavior with students. The allegations spanned from the 1980s to 2013. They include acts rnging from grooming students to groping. None of the facility still work at presentation. There was reports of possible Sexual Misconduct but the leadership took took ineffective or no action. They have stripped the school of any honors to the accused staff. None of the accused individuals have been charge and the statute of limitations has run out. I intend to work with the report and our lawmakers to extend statute of limitations that this type of scandal, god forbid should ever happen again elsewhere. We can at least hold the criminals accountable. And a couple more notes here, the school has shared the report with the San Jose Police department and the san jose diocese, and San Jose Police say they do not confirm or disclose names in criminal investigations.
