Unpaid water bills later than four months hit a record $75 million for San Diego, but city officials won't turn off taps for unpaid bills or say who hasn't paid.
On average, it takes 35 minutes to reach a customer service representative, according to San Diego water officials. That, however, is an improvement from the two hours it used to take in March 2023.
There have been problems since late 2017 in the city of San Diego with water meter readings, billing and customer service, according to a City Auditor report.
