Midland homeowners swimming for answers following severe flooding

MIDLAND, Texas Drying out and assessing the damage. That is what people living in a flooded neighborhood in west Midland County are doing.
The flooding is part of yet another historic weather event to hit our region this year. But the damage it is leaving behind is not necessarily all on mother nature.
County leaders tell us rainwater would typically collect in the flood plain behind Cinergy along highway 191, now that water has nowhere else to go and is draining into people s homes.

MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas The neighborhoods near Mission Dorado in west Midland County are under water.
Additionally, homes near Faudree Road and West County Road 122 have the most damage.
County leaders tell us rainwater would typically drain to the field behind Cinergy off of Highway 191, but that area has been developed. Now all of that water is draining into neighborhoods.

MIDLAND, Texas Here is a trend we do not like to see going up: auto-pedestrian accidents.
On average, Midland County sees about four deadly auto-pedestrian crashes a year.
However, in the past month alone there have been four.
The Midland Co. sheriff worries if driving and pedestrian habits do not change, we are going to see an all-time high in auto-pedestrian fatalities this year. Those auto-pedestrian accidents are the worst accidents you can come up to because normally those do result in a fatality, David Criner, Midland Co. Sheriff said. It’s very sad to know that you are going to approach an accident scene and it’s going to affect someone’s loved one”
