The Election Commission has taken action against Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar following allegations of threatening voters to vote for Congress in exchange for Cauvery water supply. The action comes after videos surfaced showing Shivakumar promising water supply in exchange for votes for his brother, DK Suresh, the Congress candidate for Bengaluru Rural parliamentary constituency. The controversy has sparked accusations from the BJP and JD(S), who have accused the DK brothers of blackmailing voters.

A senior BBMP official stated, “In Bengaluru South, 5,982 notices were issued, and 377 establishments are yet to adopt the requirement. In the East Zone, notices were issued to 8,634 establishments, all of which have complied.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has started the installation of traffic signal lights in RR Nagar, Dattagalli, Bogadi, and surrounding areas. The locals had been demanding this for a long time, as the circle witnesses heavy rush during peak hours. The traffic police had advised installing signals in 10 places across the city. The work has finally started, and the residents are happy about it. They urge the MCC to complete the work at the earliest.
Additionally, BWSSB will enlist 100 tankers, facilitating water supply by BBMP to 110 villages now under BBMP’s jurisdiction, as these areas are yet to be connected to the Cauvery piped water system. Completion of the Cauvery fifth stage works is expected by the end of April, with water supply through pipelines expected only by May.
