Royal Oils and Gold Series Announce the Recipients of the Rooted in Science Scholarship

Procter & Gamble (P&G) haircare brands Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders and Gold Series from Pantene announced the 11 recipients of the first annual Rooted in Science Scholarship. The scholarships were awarded to Black women pursuing a degree in STEM fields at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and UNCF (United Negro College Fund)-member schools. UNCF, a long-time partner to P&G, will facilitate the distribution.

Global multi-brand conglomerate Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders and Gold Series from Pantene are celebrating Black History Month (BHM) to help Black Americans reconnect with their African roots, donating 50 DNA test kits.
The Initiative Crowns of Heritage which was developed by Burrell Communications and Marina Maher Communications seeks to encourage people to reflect on their family history through a partnership with AfricanAncestry.com, which owns the largest database of proprietary African lineages.
As part of the program, P&G is giving away 50 DNA test kits through the end of the month. Participants take a cheek swab and send it back to AfricanAncestry.com where they extract the DNA and compare it against their maternal lineage and determine test-takers present-day country and ethnic group (tribe) of origin in Africa.
