Reporter it was the first day of the new route and the speed was at question. Some say the speed was in the 70s and some say it was as high as 81 miles per hour. The train which looks like this amtrak cascade was traveling southbound at 70 miles per hour. It was carrying 78 passengers and five crew members when one witness said that the train started to wobble and started to go off of the track onto interstate 5. Multiple cars in trucks were struck by the train cars that went down to the road. When you see the pictures, it is pretty horrific, at this point, nobody in any of the vehicles are dead. Reporter it did damage to the bridge of the broadway and investigators are working in that area. They held their first News Conference saying that the chief investigator will bring his entire team. The officer was the subject of an investigation that spanned several cities. We have more on this breaking news now. We are at the mall where the person killed himself. We did hear from San Francisco police just in the last hour. They confirmed that he had been with the department for nine years. Sources are telling us tonight that the officers officers name was antonio. If you take a look behind me, you can see where this scene happened. They did an attempt to stop him. More than double what they should have been doing. Another thing that might have been a factor. Theres no positive train control. That would have slowed the train down.
