Reporter it was the first day of the new route and the speed was at question. Some say the speed was in the 70s and some say it was as high as 81 miles per hour. The train which looks like this amtrak cascade was traveling southbound at 70 miles per hour. It was carrying 78 passengers and five crew members when one witness said that the train started to wobble and started to go off of the track onto interstate 5. Multiple cars in trucks were struck by the train cars that went down to the road. When you see the pictures, it is pretty horrific, at this point, nobody in any of the vehicles are dead. Reporter it did damage to the bridge of the broadway and investigators are working in that area. They held their first News Conference saying that the chief investigator will bring his entire team. He is supported by staff. Reporter the team will be on site by this evening to look at all these issues, they will interview witnesses and it will take his time, possibly up to a year to make a determine on the possible causes. New developments now in a shooting over the weekend. A veteran Richmond Police sergeant is in the hospital. He allegedly shot into the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. Philip sanchez is on paid administrative leave, according to the San Francisco police he fired several shots from a handgun at 4 am. Police surrounded the hotel on Market Street and he surrendered at 6 30 am. He is taken to the hospital r medical evaluation. He could face disciplinary action by are the Richmond Police. Our officer accountability will investigate the innocent that incident. And then we will determine on what the outcome is. This incident is out of character for him. The owner of the Clothing Store issued a plea of no contest. The owner of this story was sentenced to three months probation. The attackers in this case stabbed a one man and punched the woman that he was within the phase. This happened just before 9 30 pm at the parking structure at the hayward location. The two victims were taken to the hospital and the man stabbed ones are not considered lifethreatening but he underwent surgery. The woman is suffering minor juries to her face and she was released from the hospital. The important part is it will be that additional tool that chp and Law Enforcement need to capture this. We cannot expect our police to be everywhere. And the camera system is the additional tool to help the chp and additional Law Enforcement to capture these people. Some of the cars went over the trestle. The accident happened on what was the Maiden Voyage of a high speed trade going from seattle to portland. Joining us live from dupont washington with the latest. Reporter one of the problems with deciding how many people have been killed, the Associated Press reported that six people were killed. But no other officials on scene will confirm that. It could be because they have not been able to get inside those train cars that are dangling over the side of that trostle. They brought in a lot of heavy equipment and you can see the lights shining in on the area. They need to get inside took the early exactly to see how many people are in those cars who are dead. There were five vehicles and two semis on interstate 5 that were hit by the train, those people were injured but no fatalities. 70 people were taken to area hospitals with various conditions, this was the inaugural trip for this high speed train going from seattle to portland. It was to shave off 15 minutes from the trip and make a more direct shot. It came off of the tracks at this sharp curve. They will be looking at the speed of the train which prior to that curve, had been going 79 miles per hour. We do not know how fast it was going when you hit the curve but they will certainly be looking into that. Is a horrible scene that continues to unfold as they try to get inside and stabilize that train to get the victims out. Back to you.
