fiscal year. jim angle is keeping an eye on all of this, live from washington. where are we in the process now, jim? reporter jon, the house will pass a 2-week extension spending authority today called a continuing resolution or c.r., that will happen this after that and they ll send it to the senate. this particular bill would only cut $4 billion. that s two weeks worth of the 61 billion house republicans want to cut between now and october. some democrats are critical even of that amount, even though all of the cuts in there are things president obama has proposed. now, cutting putting that cutting that puts house democrats in a tricky position. listen: i would probably vote in favor of it, even though i have severe questions about t nobody wants to shut down government. but in the at the same token, i don t want to see this death by a thousand splashes. reporter: so there you have it. there are some misgivings on the house side, there are
basis the bases are angry with each other. independents are turning out in the hundreds of thousands if not millions to object. you just had this congressman from oklahoma on fox & friends yesterday saying he s a democrat, thinks 17 percent of the folks in his district want this bill, or whatever the bill is going to look like. there is nobody that s going to convince this guy that somehow passing or voting in favor of this bill will be better for him. jon: kirsten, you ve heard the pitch from one of the president s pollsters, sam green bg, who s telling democrats that failure to enact health care reform is actually going to cost them more seats and more votes than enacting it. do you agree? yeah, it s a little hard. there s a little slicing and dicing that has to be done. certainly for the president, it will be worse, and i think that really, this argument is being made more on behalf of the president, that obama needs to have a win, otherwise, he s going to look very weak.
